一、课程教学目标

高级英语II.2》是英语语言文学专业高年级(四年级下)的一门实践课程,旨在训练学生综合英语技能,尤其是阅读理解、语法修辞与写作能力。

 

二、先修课的要求

基础英语14册;高级英语567册。

 

三、教学环节、内容及学时分配

(一)总论(或绪论、概论等)

学时(课堂讲授学时+其他教学学时):2个学时

主要内容:本课程阅读材料内容广泛,涉及政治、经济、社会、语言、文学、教育、哲学等方面。通过阅读和分析所选材料,扩大学生知识面,加深学生对社会和人生的理解,培养他们的分析和欣赏能力、逻辑思维与独立思考能力,进一步巩固和提高英语阅读和写作能力。

教学要求:高级英语II.2》课程是《基础综合英语》课程的延续,对学生的听、说、读、写、译等技能提出更高的培养要求。

重点、难点:Textual Analysis; Library Work

其它教学环节(如实验、习题课、讨论课、其它实践活动):Class Discussion

 

() Unit One  Happiness  6个学时

主要内容:pre-reading questions; lexical work; library work; textual analysis; exercise.

教学要求:Look up the new words and phrases in a dictionary; look up the following proper names in an encyclopedia: Cervantes and Don Quixote; Alexander Pope; Ivy League school.

重点、难点:Textual Analysis; Rhetoric.

其它教学环节(如实验、习题课、讨论课、其它实践活动):Exercises; Composition Writing.

 

(三)Unit Three  Violence as an American Tradition  6个学时

主要内容:pre-reading questions; lexical work; library work; textual analysis; exercise.

教学要求:Look up the new words and phrases in a dictionary; look up the following proper names in an encyclopedia: Leatherstocking and Chingachgook; Ishmael and Queequeg; Huck and Jim.

重点、难点:Textual Analysis; Rhetoric.

其它教学环节(如实验、习题课、讨论课、其它实践活动):Exercises; Composition Writing.

 

(四)Unit Four  Night Walker  6个学时

主要内容:pre-reading questions; lexical work; library work; textual analysis; exercise.

教学要求:Look up the new words and phrases in a dictionary; look up some information about the two great musician. Beethoven; Vivaldi.

重点、难点:Textual Analysis; Rhetoric.

其它教学环节(如实验、习题课、讨论课、其它实践活动):Exercises; Composition Writing.

 

(五)Unit Six  The Iks  6个学时

主要内容:pre-reading questions; lexical work; library work; textual analysis; exercise.

教学要求:Look up the new words and phrases in a dictionary; find out about the concept of human nature as expounded by the great Chinese thinkers Mengzi (Mencius 孟子 ) and Xunzi(荀子).

重点、难点:Textual Analysis; Rhetoric.

其它教学环节(如实验、习题课、讨论课、其它实践活动):Exercises; Composition Writing.

 

(六)Unit Nine Birth of a Forsyte  6个学时

主要内容:pre-reading questions; lexical work; library work; textual analysis; exercise.

教学要求:Look up the new words and phrases in a dictionary; besides The Forsyte Saga, the best-known work by John Galsworthy, the author also wrote many other stories concerning the Forsytes. Moreover, The Forsyte Saga is not just a single work. It being a trilogy consists of three separate novels under different titles, and there are also two interludes. Find out from a reference work all the titles of books about the Forsytes written by Galsworthy and the date of publication of each of them.

四、教学策略与方法建议

以教师讲授为主,学生自学为辅;要求学生学会使用大型工具书。
