主讲人介绍：
斯蒂文·刚尼（Steven Gunn），现任牛津大学现代史教授，牛津大学莫顿学院（Sub-Warden of Merton College）副院长。主要从事近代早期英国史与欧洲史研究，出版专著有：Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk, c1484-1545 (1988), Early Tudor Government, 1485-1558 (1995), War, State and Society in England and the Netherlands, 1477-1559 (2007), 作为主编，出版有：Cardinal Wolsey: Church, State and Art (1991), Authority and Consent in Tudor England (2002), The Court as a Stage: England and the Low Countries, 1270-1580 (2005) and Arthur Tudor, Prince of Wales: Life, Death and Commemoration (2009).
牛津大学莫顿学院是牛津大学最富盛名的学院之一，拥有长达800年的历史。从该学院毕业的知名人士不胜枚举，其中有我们熟悉的文学批评家T. S Eliot，《魔戒》作者托尔金，以及著名翻译家杨宪益。
