Fathers and Sons in American Politics and Poetics:How do images of fathers in American shape our ideas of masculinity? And how are political “fathers,” who already wield great power, seen as projections of our ideals? (as well as images of our failings.) How do we reconcile ourselves to our father’s deaths, and find comfort in them?
