亨廷顿在《文明的冲突与世界秩序的重建》一书中,特别强调了宗教因素在构建国家民族文化身份中的重要作用。当代社会政治生活中,宗教因素并没有随着全球化进程的发展而衰落,在相对多的国际事务中恰恰得到了强化。本讲座将结合宗教文化的特征与当代国际政治的背景探讨宗教政治文化的本质。
主讲人介绍:
Professor Thomas D''Andrea is a Fellow in Philosophy and the Human Sciences at Wolfson College, Cambridge and the author of Tradition, Rationality, and Virtue: the thought of Alasdair MacIntyre (Ashgate, 2004) and articles and reviews in metaphysics, moral philosophy, political philosophy, and the philosophy of religion. Thomas D’Andrea’s current research interests are in the intersection between political representation, law, and the moral conscience. He is the author of Tradition, Rationality, and Virtue: the Thought of Alasdair MacIntyre (Ashgate: 2006) and has past publications in the field of moral and political philosophy, metaphysics, and the philosophy of religion.
He was a James Madison Fellow at Princeton University in 2001-2002 and in 2006 the co-Director there of a National Endowment for the Humanities Faculty Seminar on ''Natural Law and American Constitutionalism''. He continues to give an annual summer seminar in Princeton through the Witherspoon Institute on topics in natural law theory. He has had visiting positions at the University of St Andrews and the University of Chicago and lectured in philosophy at St Andrews and at the University of Notre Dame. In 2004 he began and has since directed the International Society for Legal and Moral Philosophy (INSOLM) – a society dedicated to the exploration of natural law thinking across the moral sciences.
He is the founding Director of the Cambridge based Institute for the Study of Philosophy, Politics, and Religion (ISPPR), a research institute dedicated to the study of themes at the intersection of these three disciplines.
