人文实验班《原典阅读与批评》期末小组课题展示

《原典阅读与批评》本学期共阅读四本文学经典,Jane Eyre, Wide Sargasso Sea, North and South, Nice Work。其中,四部小说共同构成两组对话,Wide Sargasso Sea是二十世纪对Jane Eyre的反思和重建,而Nice Work是二十世纪后半叶的英国社会对North and South的批判与继承。不同时代的文学作品共处一个文学传统,后代的文学作品既从前代经典中吸取营养,又有批判和创新,文学经典得以永葆活力。
以文学经典之间的互文和影响为背景,四个课题小组分别选取本学期所读的一到多个文学文本,也进行了自己的批判性再创作。以下是同学们的小组课题:
第一组:

In Jane Eyre, there is a quintessential Victorian female character who, benign as she might seem to Jane, may have given rise to the entire tragic story happening in Thornfield—Mrs. Fairfax. We have only seen a tip of the iceberg, but what’s hidden beneath it?
